Silk as canvas. East meets West.
Autumn 17 makes women's clothing by hand in Beijing.
Beijing court embroidery
Beijing has a court craft: Jing embroidery, also called palace embroidery. Under the Qing dynasty the imperial household kept its own embroidery workshop, which made court robes and ceremonial dress for the imperial family. Today Jing embroidery is on China's national list of intangible cultural heritage.
Made by hand
Our pieces are made by hand by craftspeople in Beijing. They bring eastern embroidery together with what the European courts loved: French-style lace and beadwork. We make little and do not rush. The embroidery, beading and lace on every piece are done by hand, each bead sewn on separately, which is why there are only a few pieces in each size. Quality over quantity.
Fabrics
Each piece's page shows a photo of its composition label: if it says silk, it is silk.
